Green HAC – heating and cooling from the depth of the mine?

In abandoned mines… there is a potential! We know that closing them can have negative impact for local communities, but inactive mine shafts can be a base for an eco-friendly system of generation and storage heat and cooling. We named our technology Green GAC because it is an eco-friendly system for heating and cooling.

Innovative method was patented by Michał Rosół, SMG Śląsk president and Łukasz Bartela, profesor of Silesian University of Technology. Green HAC is an underground system for generation and storage of heat and cooling with its base in mine shafts. They are hundred metes deep and are a perfect storage place. What is more, such great depths create easy access to geothermal energy.

01

Cooling and heating can be cheaper.

02

There is no need of expensive liquidation of mine shafts

03

Mine whafts are close to densely populated areas, so connecting Green HAC with district heating would be easy.

04

Abandoned mine areas again will become beneficial for local communities.

05

Green HAC can be a way to avoid air-polution.
Green HAC is a technology that can support national power system in eco-transformation.
